Pray for Kevin Ward Jr. after horrific sprint car accident involving Tony Stewart

We don't know much, so I won't say much this moment.

We do know that there was an accident on track in a sprint car race at Canandaigua Motorsports Park in New York, involving Tony Stewart and Kevin Ward Jr. After the incident Ward got out of his car and was upset, then walked toward Stewart as the cars on track drove under caution.

We know that Kevin Ward Jr. was touched by one of Stewart's wheels and injured -- we do not know how severely at this point.

According to an eyewitness report a spectator told to Bob Pockrass of The Sporting News, "the right rear tire hit Kevin, Kevin was sucked underneath and was stuck under it for a second or two and then it threw him about 50 yards."

Now is not the time to speculate about what exactly Tony's intentions were. I do not believe he would intentionally harm anyone walking on a racetrack, but that's just my opinion. The police are investigating and will determine what they believe happened. Now is also not the time to speculate on how all this could affect Tony Stewart's life -- NASCAR and otherwise.

Now, the only thing we should do is pray for Kevin Ward Jr. to survive and recover from this horrific incident.

EDIT:
Canandaigua Motorsports Park issued a statement early Sunday morning saying they would not have an official statment on the accident that happed Saturday night until Sunday morning.

Think good thoughts tonight everyone.

UPDATE (3:14 a.m.):
The worst news possible came through just now -- Kevin Ward Jr. has passed, was dead on arrival at the hospital. I guess those prayers belong with his family now, as they struggle to figure out why this had to happen.

I'm sure this will weigh on Tony Stewart more than we can even imagine; but I'm also sure the police are considering whether legal action is needed here. This tragic tale will no doubt be in the news for a long time and have a major impact on the world of motorsports.

And more important than all of that, R.I.P. Kevin Ward Jr.

Intentional or not, Tony's career is over.

Why would his career be over? Because someone made a bad choice of getting out of his car in the middle of a race track and walking towards a race car and subsequently getting struck and killed? Not Tonys fault the kid made a very bad choice. I understand tempers flare but you have to know what you're doing. Hopefully as a result of this they make some huge changes to the rules regarding anyone that decides to enter a racetrack out of anger.

Tony has had years of Anger issues it's no secret .
It now has left a young talented man dead and his poor family grieving forever . I think there comes a time in a drivers career such as Tony when there is TOO much focus on winning ! The guys that were racing last night at that track were amateurs, guys that love to race on the weekends . Tony is a Nascar Driver who needs to get his emotions in check once and for all. WHY IS HE THERE AT ALL!!

Tony should be facing criminal charges for this horrible act of violence on this young man. It appears that he was using his car as a weapon. Throw him out of racing and charge him with the crime of vehicular homicide.

The bottom line is Kevin Ward would still be alive if he hadn't have let his anger get the best of him. He made a bad decision out of anger to walk out on to the track. He would still be alive if he would have chosen differently. This doesn't mean he deserved to die. RIP Kevin Ward Jr. Prayers for his family and loved ones at this most painful time.

I can only say wow, well and the Ward guy signed a waiver like people do in any sport. And in the waiver ot will state that he signed if he died it was part of the sport. No offense intended. He made a really stupid choice to walk towards a vehicle coming straight at him because only a suicidal man would walk towards a car traveling 40 + mph. He didnt deserve to die. But to get hit. Well stupid people need to learn
